The Minnesota Twins are a Major League Baseball came into existence in 1894 as Kansas Blues in Kansas City, Missouri. The franchise is presently based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and belongs to the Central Division of the American League. The team was relocated to Washington, D.C. in 1901 and played there through the 1960 season. The Senators were winners in three pennants (1924, 1925, and 1933), they won the World Series in 1925 against the New York Giants. However, they finished last ten times, and sixth or seventh on 23 occasions. During 1924-1925 , the team won back-to- back pennants with a high profile squad including Babe Ruth Yankees, the Connie Mack A's, and the Ty Cobb Tigers. After 1945, the franchise fell into patchiness quickly. The team was being considered mostly for its breakdown rather than its achievements.

Declining attendance and the meager presentation on the field impelled them to move west to Minnesota for the 1961 season. During the team’s first decade in Minneapolis, the Minnesota Twins reached the playoffs thrice from 1961 to 1970. In 1987 the team won. The club won another Series title in 1991. Under the leadership of Tom Kelly and persistent .300 hitter and All-Star outfielder Kirby Puckett team won both championships. The performance of the team was declining in 1990 as they finished last in their division. 1991 was also the first time any team concluding last in its division the preceding year advanced to the World Series, with both the Twins and Braves accomplishing this unparalleled deed. After 1992, the Twins again fell into an extended slouch, posting a losing record each year through 2000.

Fortunes turned around, and in 2001 to 2005, the Twins accumulated the best lineup of successive winning seasons since moving to Minnesota, going 85-77 in 2001, 94-67 in 2002, 90-72 in 2003, 92-70 in 2004 and 83-79 in 2005. From 2002 to 2004, the Twins compiled their longest streak of consecutive league/division championships ever. In the history of the franchise two of the greatest Twins players were slugger Harmon Killebrew and line-drive hitter Rod Carew. Killebrew won six AL home run titles and ranks in the top ten on the all-time home run list with 573. Carew, recognized as the best pure hitter of his day, won seven league batting crowns and compiled a career .328 average—among the best averages recorded in the second half of the 20th century. Till date the team has won three world championships (1924, 1987, 1991), Six Pennants (1924-1925, 1933, 1965, 1987, 1991) and Seven division titles (1969-1970, 1987, 1991, 2002-2004)
