The Detroit Tigers are a Major League Baseball team that belongs to Central Division of American League. The franchise is presently based in Detroit, Michigan. Owner of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings and founder of Little Caesars Pizza Mike Llitch is the owner of the franchise since 1992. The team left renowned Tiger Stadium, and then moved Fenway Park as the oldest vigorous baseball stadium in 2000.

The team is wealthy in its traditions and has been a spirited team. The tigers have always given a healthy competition to Yankees in the American League. Out of their first 100 seasons, team was victorious in 62 seasons. The franchise was placed last just thrice before 1989. The tigers were winners during 1910’s, though they won pennants from 1907 to 1909 but couldn’t record any win in World Series. The 1915 team is one of only eight teams to win 100 games and finish in second place. The 1950s were the most awful era in team history. In the 1960s, the team was constructed through astute deals and the farm system, an attitude the Tigers used during the 1980s. Once again in 1961 tigers were winners in 100 games but losers in pennants. From 1979 to 1995, the team was administered by the vivid, unusual George "Sparky" Anderson who proved to be as good as his word. the Tigers who were ranked after Yankees for their second most wins in the history of the American League through the 1993 season, had plunged in standings.

Detroit observed a fall of 12 points in their all-time winning percentage drop in a decade’s span, sliding under the Red Sox and Indians. In 2003, the Tigers horrified that spot of ineffectiveness, by losing 119 games, concealing the preceding American League record of 116 losses. For 2005, the Tigers, Under Dombrowski, have revealed a keenness to go and try to be a player on the free agent market. The Tigers have remained a hub of best batting Champions. Sluggers Bobby Veach, Bob Fothergill, Rudy York, Rocky Colavito, Norm Cash, Willie Horton, Kirk Gibson, Darrell Evans, and Cecil Fielder all took pleasure in hitting in snug Tiger Stadium. The franchise have fashioned more winners than any other team, and enjoyed some of the most fruitful seasons at the shield. Hall of Famer Ty Cobb stands first in Tigers' history and second in Major League history with a record of 4,191 career hits.
