The Texas Rangers are a Major League Baseball, who currently belong to the West Division of the American League. The team is sited in in Arlington, Texas, a suburb in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. . In one of baseball's eccentric moments, in 1961 the original Washington Senators became the Minnesota Twins after departing to Washington.  A new expansion team was awarded by Major League Baseball Washington, D.C., giving it the name of the old franchise. The team relocated to Arlington, Texas, in 1972 and was named the Texas Rangers. The fresh Washington senators posted only one winning season in 1969 in its eleven years of existence. From 1969 to 1971 was the manager of the team and shifted the along with the franchise to Texas in 1972.Frank Howard was the team's most skillful player. The team played its home games Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium (formerly at D.C. Stadium) on East Capitol Street and the Anacostia River. In 1974 Rangers steadily started coming into a good form.

They concluded the season with a record of 84-76 and stood second in the division titles. In 1986 team ranked second in American League West Championship under the direction of manager Bobby Valentine. The team was hub of talented players during this span of time including Bert Blyleven, Buddy Bell, Fergie Jenkins, Mike Hargrove, Jim Sundberg, Toby Harrah and Rick Honeycutt. Valentine became the longest serving manager who led the core of prominent players in the team’s history. In the mean time, future President George W. Bush bought the team in 1989, he served the team till he was voted as governor of the Texas in 1994.

In order to replace the aging Arlington Stadium, construction of a new ballpark for the team was proposed during the same period. Ameriquest Field in Arlington is the new home stadium for the team. in 1990’s Rangers with new stadium were in high spirits and won a division title in 1996 under the leadership of manager Johnny Oates. Johnny who was later named AL Manager of the Year and Juan Gonzalez was named AL MVP. The club characterized an influential array of hitters with Ivan Rodriguez, Will Clark, Mark McLemore, Dean Palmer, Rusty Greer, Juan Gonzalez, and Mickey Tettleton. Team again reached AL west division Championship twice in 1998 and 1999 but finished at second place. In 2005-2006 offseason, the Rangers started making moves to obtain the pitching staff that they have long haunted. The Rangers hired starter Vicente Padilla and pitchers Adam Eaton and Akinori Otsuka . Finally, they drafted free agent starter Kevin Millwood.
