Derek Christopher Lowe is counted among the best players in the Major League specially where he has to get the hitters to beat the ball into the ground. He has the capability to beat both lefties as well as righties. He throws and bats right-handed. This sharp cancerian was born on June 1, 1973 in Dearborn , Michigan . Lowe started his career in 1991, when he was picked up by Seattle Mariners in the 8 th round of the amateur draft round and entered in Major League in 1997. He did his graduated from At Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn , Michigan where he was a four-sport letterman in baseball, golf, soccer and basketball. He was an all-league player in all four sports and a first team all-state pick in basketball. During his first two seasons, Lowe amassed a 5-15 record and concluded 1999 season with 15 saves and a gleaming 2.63 ERA.
In 2000, Lowe gave his ever best performance as a closer, when he headed American League with 42 saves. Though he is observed as an eccentric closer but he couldn't overpower hitters. Instead of 24 saves in the beginning of 2001 season, Lowe had to loose the post of closer at the trading closing date, July 31, when Boston attained star closer Ugueth Urbina from the Montreal Expos. Lowe was left in dividing line, compelled to take jobs in the bullpen. Lowe returned to starting rotation again in 2000 and this budge was proved fruitful, when he posted a 21-8 record, a 2.58 ERA, and finished 3rd in Cy Young Award voting behind Barry Zito and teammate Pedro Martinez. Year 2003 was a mediocre season for Lowe, he posted a 17-7 record despite an atypical 4.47 ERA. In 2004 season Lowe was victorious in all three postseason series against the Angels, Yankees and Cardinals. He posted a career highs with 72-59 record and 85 saves. Lowe signed four years contract with Los Angeles Dodgers in 2002, so he presently plays for Dodgers.
