Derrek Lee is a professional baseball player who at present plays with the Chicago Cubs since 2004. He is the first baseman in the major league baseball that was previously playing with the San Diego Padres in 1997 and from 1998 to 2003 he was playing with the Florida Marlins. His full name is Derrek Leon Lee and is commonly referred by his last name ‘Lee'. Lee was born on September 6, 1975 in Sacramento , California . He is the son of the famous player Leon Lee and nephew of Leron Lee. Lee is a right handed player who bats and throws both with his right hand. He did his graduation from the from El Camino (CA) High School in 1993 after that he turned down to the basketball scholarship to the University of North Carolina instead of playing for the baseball. Lee stands to 6'5” and weighs 205 Ibs. He has always been counted among the decent players of the league who is always remembered as one of the best hitters. In 2004 he made a hit .278 with 32 home runs and 98 RBI. It was in 2005 that he hit his career high .335 battling average (tops in the National League) and 46 home runs. Lee captivated the score of 100 runs, 100 RBI and 40 home runs season in 2005. Lee emerged as the NL Double Leader, NL Total Bases Leader, NL Hits leader, NL OPS Leader, NL Battling Average Leader, and captured the title of NL Silver Slugger in 2005.
