Orlando Cabrera is a professional baseball player who is at present playing for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He is playing in the present team from 2005. His full name is Orlando Luis Cabrera and is commonly referred by his last name Cabrera that is pronounced as cah-BREH-rah. Cabrera has been given various nicknames as OC, O-Cab. He was born on November 2, 1974 in Cartagena , Colombia . Cabrera stands to 5'10” and weighs 190Ibs. He is a right handed player who bats and throws in right direction. He played for the Montreal Expos (1997-2004) and Boston Red Sox (2004) before joining the present team in 2005. Cabrera made debut in the major league on September 3, 1997 . He was signed by the Montreal Expos as an amateur free agent in 1993. Cabrera is the younger brother of Jolbert, a former major league outfielder who currently plays with the Fukuoka Soft Bank Hawks. He is one of four Montreal players have ever played all 162 games in a season, and the first to do it twice. He was traded by Montreal to the Boston Red Sox in the summer of 2004, on the last day of the July trading deadline. Cabrera made a brilliant score batting .294 with six home runs and 31 RBI in 58 games. He also brought stability to the shortstop position, which delighted the Red Sox pitchers. Cabrera beat the Yankees in the postseason in 2004 and 2005. He was the first player to beat the Yankees in two straight postseasons since the Giants beat them in 1921 and 1922. In 2005 he achieved the World Series with Red Sox. Soon after this victory, he signed with the Los Angeles Angel Organization as a free agent.
