Oakland Athletics came into existence in 1893 as the charter member of the minor Western League. In 1900 the team moved to Philadelphia , Pennsylvania in 1900 when the Western League became the American League. Until 1954, the team played as Philadelphia Athletics. From 1955 onwards until 1967 the team contended as the Kansas City Athletics. After having been relocated to Oakland Missouri in 1968, the team became known as the Oakland Athletics. The Athletics play their home games in McAfee Coliseum. The official colors of the team are green, gold and white. The team's logo has "A's written stylistically. An alternate logo of the team is an elephant. The Athletics took home the World Series titles in 1910, 1911, 1913, 1929, 1930, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1989.
