Anaheim Angels is a professional American baseball team that belongs to the West Division of the American League (AL). Anaheim, California is home to the Angles and they play their home games at Edison International Field. The team derives its name from its actual home—Los Angeles, The City of Angels. In 1961, former actor Gene Autry established the Angels in Los Angeles. The franchise played in Los Angeles for five seasons. The Angles were relocated to Anaheim after the 1965 season and were referred as California Angels.

Under manager Jim Fregosi, the Angels won three West Division titles from 1979 till 1986 with a streak that featured Don Baylor, Rod Carew, Bobby Grich, Reggie Jackson, and Nolan Ryan. Jackson stands among the top ten on the all-time home run list. Ryan is baseball’s all-time strikeout leader, threw four no-hitters while with the team. The Angels have enjoyed remarkable success in Anaheim; they won the Wildcard slot in and the season was decorated by a World Championship in 2002. The club will carry on to work intimately with the City of Anaheim in encouraging the Anaheim community, Angel Stadium of Anaheim, and the Angels' baseball experience.
In the 2005 season, the Angels turned out to be the earliest team in the American League to secure their division, doing so with 5 games left in the regular season. It was also the first time the team had made the playoffs in back-to-back years. In 2005, the Angels won division series by defeating the New York Yankees in 5 games, but lost in the American League Championship Series to the eventual World Series Champions Chicago White Sox in 5 games. Pitcher Bartolo Colon was selected A.L. Cy Young Award winner in 2005, only the second Angel to be so honored after Dean Chance won the award in 1964.

The Angels proclaimed the team has altered its official name to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. This change is effective from January 3, 2005. The addition of Los Angeles mirrors the original expansion name awarded by Major League Baseball in December 1960 and again returns the Angels as Major League Baseball's American League envoy in the Greater Los Angeles province that Major League Baseball anticipates the club to serve.
